What is the best keyword research technique in SEO?

As much as we wish keyword research could be simple and formulaic to give us consistent success, there isn't a specific keyword research technique out there that can guarantee it. The main reason for this is because nobody except for Google employees understands exactly how Google ranks pages. With over 200 ranking factors, it's impossible to tell which strategy will work the best, but there are ways to determine how difficult it will be to rank for certain terms.

Relevance Matters

In today's SEO, Google won't rank your website just because you use a keyword that others don't use, such as substituting "guest writing" for "guest blogging." Google pays attention to relevance and understands that both keywords are close enough to each other. As a result, the search engine will rank the more reputable site higher.

What you need to do is take steps to determine how Google ranks others for the keywords you want to target, but unfortunately this can be a challenging process. The best solution is to see the website that's ranking the highest for your target keyword, read their content, and determine what they're doing to rank that high. Then you can try to emulate those efforts in your own content.

Keyword Difficulty

Using Google's free Keyword Planner tool, Ahrefs, Moz, or Semrush, you can see the difficulty and competition level of certain keywords. Using this information, you can decide if it's worth it to target these keywords or try another strategy.

These are simply some of the many ways you can figure out how to rank using a keyword strategy. If you're still unclear about how to rank or look for keywords, you may want to seek help from SEO professionals who have the tools to assist you, such as Clickx.
