You realize that backlinks are the key components of actually building authority? So you want to make sure that your website is getting ongoing new backlinks with high quality high authority domains. How does one go about doing that? Obviously, you’re going to have to invest a lot of time creating really good content that people would want to link back to, but just because you create a great content, doesn’t mean people are just going to link to it. You’re really going to have to do all sorts of promotions. The amount of time you took to create the content you’ll have to spend double the time and money promoting the content.
When it comes to promoting, there are so many different ways to promote. You can obviously do it on your social media and various other ways, but today I want to talk about using emails. More specifically, I want to talk about the way that people shouldn’t be using emails or any sort of outreach to get links to their website.
The way that you shouldn’t do it is by just trying to spam people by constantly sending the same email to everyone without even personalizing it. If I get an email saying “Hi there…” I personally know they don’t even know my name or they’ll fill out the contact form asking me to update my website but they’re not paying me anything I’m doing all this for free but they’re just spamming me every day saying the same thing over and over.
What I’m suggesting in this hack is using a strategy to get to know the person a little deeper. How about finding out who exactly wrote the article or who is the person who should be making that change and send them some value. The first email might say something like, “ Hey, I saw your website and I saw this article I like however, I do see that it’s an outdated article that you have there or it’s an outdated link that you have there. Currently I’m in the process of creating a new content piece would you be able to link to me to something similar?”. They may or may not respond but that’s totally fine then you go ahead and work on your piece and then you publish it and then you follow up. A couple days later after sending the initial email you can email them again with something like, “Hey, a couple days ago I sent you an email not sure if you got a chance to look at it. By the way, the articles are now completed if you’d like to take a look at it.” They may or may not even respond to you but why not take a stab at it.
The key here is following up with emails. Ask them if they got a chance to look at the articles, or mention something they wrote and discuss it or even mention something going on in your life just to create that relationship bridge. Try to take that in like a salesperson, a salesperson doesn’t just go and spew out “Hey, buy my stuff.” If that were the case, no one would listen to salesman. You really want to take the time to know the person who wrote the article and their interest and try to put that into use when you email them, or have a conversation with them.
Now when I see that an email coming through, I usually pay attention to who knows me by name or the person that mentions my tweets. Even someone that knows what I’m up to and whatever challenges I might be facing or the content that I might be writing is really someone who truly deserves my attention. That’s how you really want to be accelerating that outreach and building those high quality links and get attention.
So there you have it that’s Today’s Marketing Hack of the Day, thanks for watching!
